Barbados Hospitality at its Best – Posted Feb 20 2010

Guest Review through KAYAK.COM
Just got home from 12 nights at the Coconut Court Beach Hotel. Not lavish, just clean and the most beautiful view from just about every room. The staff (Annette, Richard, Stuart, Winston, Bentley, etc. in the dining room and bar area [beachfront]) was just amazing. A/C was cold, shower water hot, pool and cool spa refreshing, and the complementary hot breakfast buffet more than ample. Oh, and did I mention the view? This hotel is conveniently located to Bridgetown, St. Lawrence Gap and Oistins, with plenty of dining establishments within very easy walking distance.

Just got back from staying at Coconut Court and totally enjoyed the Hotel and all it offers. The location was great with one of the last wide beaches including lots of palm and almond trees for shade, a reef to snorkel, surfing next door and a boardwalk for exercise. Has it's own beach bar, dining room offering breakfast, lunch and dinner plus nightly entertainment. But what we enjoyed the very most was the hotel staff's attitude or should I say lack of. Everyone was always happy and smiling, ready to help with any requests making our vacation experience extra special. Thanks again Coconut Court, we'll visit you again for sure!
"AMAZING BEACH!"
Guest from West Virginia via Tripadvisor.com - November 2009
Just returned from a 7 day stay at the Coconut Court. The beach is wonderful . Palm trees provided shade when needed and the beautiful ocean was only steps away. A small reef provides protection from big waves. The rooms are a nice size and provide everything you need. If it is luxury you are looking for... try somewhere else. The hotel is very clean and the staff quite entertaining and helpful. This is a bargain . Make sure to book the island tour with "Ted's Tours".

My husband and I got married at CC and it was truly the best day of our lives. Petra, the wedding coordinator, Stuart, the manager of food services, Kathy and Scott from the gift shop, Erin the desk clerk and many more made our stay (and 25 of our guests) the most pleasurable, memorable experience. This was our second visit and beyond a doubt, they will see us again next year. Probably with 25 of our guests from this year plus 25 more! We miss our Bajan family!! Only 346 more days....!
Great beach, friendly staff, nice place!

We loved the stay we had at CC Beach Hotel. Beautiful beach, execellent staff, very friendly. Clean rooms, good breakfast, and somewhat secluded, when comparing to the other beaches in the area. The highlight of our trip, was when a turtle came out of the ocean, 10 feet behind me, and started digging, laying her eggs in the sand, and went back to the ocean. What an experience. American Airlines cancelled our flight home and gave us a free stay for the night at an upscale hotel. It was great, but we liked the stay at CC Beach Hotel just as much. Definetly would stay there again.

My family and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Coconut Court Beach Resort. It was my first Caribbean experience; however it will certainly not be my last.
The ten of us stayed at the hotel for two weeks and every day was like waking up to paradise. Although the rooms were fairly basic, they had everything you want including air conditioning, a fridge, a kettle, excellent wardrobe space and not forgetting fantastic balcony views.
All of the hotel staff were unbelievably friendly and accommodating- making our stay that more enjoyable. Sarah, the concierge is very knowledgeable of the island and also very approachable. Everyone was really helpful whatever the time of the day or evening.
The bar tenders Winston and Angela (who has the sweetest laugh) are really fun to talk to and when you leave you really feel like you’re leaving friends behind. Tony is great fun too- you will find him on the beach most days selling his own hand made jewellery.
The beach is beautiful- very clean and quite private too. There are plenty of sun beds for lounging and several palm trees are dotted round the beach for those that want to seek shade. There is also beach bar and seating area for those that want to read while sipping on rum punches.
The beach holds a small reef which is great for snorkelling and feeding the small aquatic fish. At times you will see Aimee (the beach dog) sitting on the reef also trying to spot the fish! (Even the dog is really friendly).
For breakfast the hotel holds a morning buffet however other options are available. The lunch menu has a good choice of food; however the dinner menu has some good dishes but is fairly limited.
Every week the hotel organises a Bajan-style buffet- giving you the chance to try some flying fish and other Bajan speciality dishes. Live entertainment is arranged twice a week- allowing you to have a dance and socialise with the other hotel goers.
The hotel is located about 10 minutes away from St. Lawrence Gap. Here, there are many great restaurants to choose from including Bellini’s and Pisces. Another restaurant to mention- located just outside of the gap is Champers which holds a lovely setting, provides excellent service and serves superb food.
Oistins and Bridgetown are not too far away either. Oistins is good fun on a Friday night. All of the locals go along and listen to live entertainment and eat from the fish markets. You can also do a bit of shopping at the different market stalls- excellent for buying presents.
My experience of Barbados was that it was very safe both in the hotel complex and outside of the hotel. Everyone was really hospitable and willing to help. Our taxi driver Sammy, recommended by the hotel is very sweet and knows the island inside out. His also very reliable and another good friend we will all miss! Will definitely be back soon.

We had one of the best holidays ever in Barbados. Every member of staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly, in particular Sarah, who was always on hand to sort anything. She put us in touch with Andrew Weston at Eco Dive who is a very friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful person. It was a pleasure to dive with him and would highly recommend visitors to join him on a dive when staying in Barbados. Two good places to eat are Mama Mia's and Fred's bar, which is a friendly pub that offers great food.

Myself my wife and my 8 year old daughter stayed at Coconut court between 18th May & 1st June 2008 it was my first trip to Barbados but it will not be my last. Everything from when we stepped off the plane till we got back on it two weeks later was just perfect.
The Hotel was better than i expected, for a 2 star hotel it was very clean and very comfortable. The rooms were cleaned daily with the linen and towels changed. The rooms have got air conditioning which is a god send ,also a ceiling fan - we found that we only needed the fan at night and we never got bit once.
The food is very nice buffet style breakfast a good choice on the lunch menu and a good choice on the dinner menu. Just dont leave your breakfast unattended as the birds will steal it as the Restaurant is all open sided.
The staff, well i just can not praise them enough they are some of the most helpful and polite people i have met. Tall Sharron and small Sherron in the restaurant were just great, Sarah in reception was very helpful (she arranges the weddings ect.)
Winston at the bar - fantastic cocktails and Angela at the bar - she just laughs at anything. The view from the room was just stunning. We fell out of bed and was on the beach. The beach itself was perfect and clean with a few coconut trees for shade if you wanted it. There is a breaker made from rocks some 50 yards from the beach so it was lovely and calm to swim. In there are also some fish that you can feed when the tide is out, it's only about 4 feet deep.
Tony on the beach sells jewellery he has made himself but he dont pressure you he is a great guy to talk to, very knowledgeable. Share a beer with him and have a chat.
There are security men that walk around at night. We felt very safe there in the day and at night as all beaches on Barbados are public and the locals do come and swim with you which i found great. So polite. On a Saturday 3 elderly ladies come to swim they really seem to enjoy themselves.
Our overall view of our stay at Coconut Court was fantastic. We will be back next year.
“Holiday Paradise” Guests from London June 2008
We chose Barbados as our holiday paradise, but we didn't know what paradise was until we arrived at Coconut Court. We are a couple with an 18 month boy and we're hard to please. I must admit that I was quite wary of venturing to the Caribbean but as soon as I landed here, my pulse dropped by a half and I soon adopted the mood of the Bajans - slow and easy.
The room is perfect, homely and functional, it's a base and a place we can relax comfortably. The hotel has everything, including an exclusive beach, private pools and a bar that opens at 10am! The beach is paradise itself. We wake up early, walk downstairs and the beach is ours, golden sands, a cool breeze (we went late April - perfect!) and the sun's already shining! Time to relax.
Not yet, the first thing any visitor to the island must do is take a trip on Ted's Tour. An air-conditioned laugh-a-minute coach trip around the island through Ted's eyes (it's a small island and Ted knows every inch) with a sumptuous lunch buffet (and a few rum stops!), Ted'll teach you everything you need to know about the place. If you're lucky he might sing you an old sea-shanty as well.
Back to Coconut Court for lunch, if you like fish you’re in for a treat, if you don’t, try the best meals served by the kindest and most caring ladies you’d care to meet. My family ate pretty much everything on the menu, we ate out once and that was the only time we were disappointed. Service comes with the biggest smile you’ll ever see!
After a glass-bottomed boat trip to see the local giant turtles and a life-affirming snorkel, it’s back to the pad and time to make the most of the menu accompanied by a steel-drum player. Try the flying fish, I insist! So, that’s my opinion of Coconut Court, must go, I need to book my holiday there next year. See you there!

“Great Stay”

The Coconut Court Beach Resort was a very pleasant stay. The rooms are nothing special to write home about, but they were very clean and roomy with an amazing view of the beach! Its a perfect place to stay when traveling with friends, and great on a budget. The location made it ideal for going into Bridgetown or St Lawrence Gap. Plus the beach is an end beach, meaning there is less traffic on it. Its has great coconut trees to lay under when the sun gets to hot and the cutest little reef that is teeming with aquatic life. Great for first time snorkeling.
What impressed me the most was the WONDERFUL STAFF! The front desk people were always willing to share their knowledge of the island with us. Also they easily and efficently helped us plan our days. They were extremely helpful in finding us a cheap car to rent and called around to find the best deal. The hotel also provided great entertainment most evenings for those who dont want to venture out at night.
“Perfect Holiday!!!” Guest from London May 28, 2008
I've just spent the most wonderful week staying at Coconut Court. The hotel is well located for amenities and the beach itself is beautiful. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished beach front rooms which was very roomy, spotless and had a spectacular view of the ocean. There were no unruly guests, as suggested in a previous review, and the nearby renovation works did not intrude at all on the peaceful atmosphere of the resort. All meals that we had at CC were cooked to a very high standard and food & drink was very reasonably priced. I have to say that the staff at the hotel really made the holiday special. They were incredibly helpful, friendly and professional. They were also very child-friendly and I felt very safe with my young son there. I can't recommend it enough. We'll definately be returning.
“Pleasant experience”

My girlfriends and I just got back a few days ago from Barbados..still very sad about that :( But one of the things that made our trip smooth and enjoyable was our stay at Coconut Court. We are not the type to be too picky about accomodations becuase we were out and about most of the time. So the rooms were about average. If you're not the picky type, this place is definitely for you! It is a great value. We didnt do all inclusive but we had breakfast included in our package. It was such a pleasure to sit and have a good breakfast while enjoying the fresh air and a great view of the water! The breakfast was very good with a good variety of things to eat. And the restaurant staff were very nice.
But what really made the difference was the front desk staff. They were there ready and willing to help us with anything and everything we needed!! We really felt like we weren't just another number to be checked in and checked out. Any questions we had, they were there to answer and help us figure out. They even helped us find a local church to visit and provided service times and everything! We were really impressed! Good customer service and a friendly smile can really make a difference. PLUS, the view from our room was amazing!!!! Took our breath away every morning!
Another thing, the beach. It was very very spacious and not crowded with people. And when we got a little burned, there were more than enough beautiful palm trees to go around for shade. Plus, the reef in front was great for snorkeling with a bunch of colorful fish and even some sea urchins. And it also helped keep the waves to a minimum. It was definitely an ideal location for laying out and relaxing! And if you're not afraid of a little bit of walking, its only 2 miles away from Bridgetown. But the hotel also provides a free shuttle there.
All in all, i would definitely recommend Coconut Court! And when (not if) I go back to Barbados, i will stay there again!
“Great, reasonably priced hotel” Guest from Connecticut Mar 30, 2008
Coconut Court is a mellow, pleasant beachside hotel. It appeared that all rooms have a beach/water view with a porch to enjoy. Nice pool/jacuzzi area. Plenty of beach lounge chairs and, if you want shade, it is available. Nice sandy beach, but in the water it is a bit rocky. I recommend water shoes or sandals. Snorkeling gear is available.
Nice beach bar and another bar is part of the open air restaurant. Two drinks for price of one at happy hour. Check the times. It is convenient and pleasant to eat breakfast at the restaurant, but our room had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. A nearby "convenience store" had some supplies and more extensive supplies are probably available elsewhere. You could probably manage some in-room meals if you work at it.
Our room was not fancy but was large and pleasant; bathroom was adequate with a shower stall. A hairdryer is provided.
We were there on a Friday night (then went on a cruise) and returned the next week for Sat-Sun-Mon nights.
I disagree with the Hocking review as we experienced no problem with any noise or loud residents. Maybe there are specific weeks which should be avoided. We seemed to have a predominantly adult group at the hotel. Very few children, and almost no one seemed to be college age or twenty-something.
We had a lunch at Mama Mia's across the street and it was very good. The bar across the street (? Woodpecker, I think) apparently can be noisy on Friday nights, but quiet the rest of the time. We did dinner there on a Monday night with excellent food. The dining area is on the other side of the bar and was more sophisticated than I expected.
I don't think there are any other accommodations in this price range that offer such nice water views from every room and an extensive beach for relaxation in sun or shade. Based on reviews read here, we did Ted's Tour and had a wonderful time. It was basically all day, including a nice lunch and very reasonably priced. It happens Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Just sign up at the desk.
We might have preferred to be walking distance to Oistins, the Gap or Bridgetown, but the buses come by regularly. Coconut Court is a very pleasant place to stay. It is an older facility but most things have been upgraded. We had dinner at the hotel twice. Decent menu, but I think it was too limited for doing an all-inclusive plan for a week. (Personal preference.)
If you are trying to do Barbados at a fairly reasonable price, you would have a hard time finding a better deal than the Coconut Court. We expect to return.
“Great, peaceful time at Coconut Court”
Guest from New York City

I just read the review stating that "YOBs" were yelling across the balconies and that this place is only for young singles...etc. I completely disagree. Just spent 8 days there and the resort was incredibly quiet and peaceful. There is some fun entertainment, steel island band, Caribbean BBQ night...etc. But past 10:30 pm.
the place was so peaceful that my fiancee and I would whisper on our balcony and actually went out to the deck one night to check out the insect which was making so much noise in the plam trees and beach mangroves. The staff is more than excellent and the Concierge, Sarah, is genuine and very knowledgable. Super reasonable rates with an incredible beach, great rooms and staff...
Maybe, if you decide to go during peak college spring break season or if you happen upon a week with rowdy guests you may have a noisy experience. We did not have that experience at all and would go back in an instant. BTW: buy fish food at the beach bar and snorkle out to the rocks. Bring some zip lock sandwich bags to carry the fish food. The water is shallow enough that you can get out some food and re seal the bag comfortably. 100s of beautiful fish, Almost no sea urchins. Look behind the far right out cropping of stones and a large flat fish lives between the stone and wall. Look carefully and you'll see some pretty great aquatic life all within snorkling distance.
“Quality and value”
Feb 26, 2008
There is a wide range of hotels in barbados. We do not like marble and glitz. This is an excellent value hotel with good quality accommodation. Good bar, restaurant and pool area. The staff are some of the best we have encountered and very friendly. The beach location is superb with great facilities and really safe for kids, nice little bar and no shortage of sunlounges. Location is good for Bridgetown and forays to the West coast beyond. We will definitely stay there again.
“We enjoyed Coconut Court Beach Resort, Barbados”
Guest from Woodbridge

We have just spent two weeks at the Coconut Court in Barbados. We arrived in the dark, and our first impression of the hotel was walking into a clean, airy space and a welcoming smile and greeting from the receptionist. Our room looked just like the picture in Virgin's holiday brochure, Barbadian in style, which is what we wanted.
The next evening (after an exhausting day swimming in the turquoise sea and lying on a sunbed shaded by palm trees on the beach) we went to the Managers welcome cocktail party, where we sampled our first delicious rum punch, followed by a traditional bajan buffet, which we really enjoyed.
The food at the hotel is well cooked, well presented, although the menu a bit limited, however the menus are currently under review. Bajan's like their veggies hot and crunchy, which is a bit different to how we eat them in the UK, however, you get used to it!
The staff are the friendliest, most helpful group of people you could meet, all wanting to make sure your stay is an enjoyable one. The Concierge, Sarah, was exceptional in providing information about various trips and activities, and was always interested to know how we got on with the trips we took.
If you go to Barbados and only go on one excursion it has to be Ted's Tour. Ted clearly loves this island, he gives lots of bits of local history as you travel round, and a couple of bits of gossip too. Perfectly timed stops for refreshments and enjoying views, plus a great Bajan lunch. Ted likes to tell a few jokes and on our trip even sang a song - it was a great day out.
The beach at the hotel is kept clean, and there are plenty of sunbeds. The coconut palm trees on the beach provide welcome shade in the heat of the day. The reef off the beach provides calm water for snorkelling, and there are small fish to see. The pool and spa located on the deck of the hotel are both good. Again, on the deck there is a supply of sunbeds and plenty of chairs and tables.
From our room, which was at deck level, we saw a few small lizards scampering around, and we were fascinated by the occasional humming bird who came to feed on the flowers outside our room. The planting around the complex is very good, colourful, and really well maintained.
The location of the hotel is only 10 minutes or so from Bridgetown on the bus, and about three miles to Oistins. Oistins is where 'everyone' goes, particularly on a Friday night to enjoy good, inexpensive food, and a great atmosphere. Get there by 6pm and you may also see the sunset.
There is a well stocked gift shop on site, and even though we looked around shops on our journeys we ended up buying most of our gifts here, the prices are fair.
If we return to Barbados for a holiday we would happily stay here again.
